The depollution process requires all fluids, tyres and batteries as well as Other Hazardous materials such as: mercury switches, aircon gases ECT.
- Engine oil and transmission fluid are drained
- Windscreen washer fluid and engine coolant are drained
- Petrol and diesel are drained from the fuel tank
- Wheels are removed and separated from the tyres
- Lead acid batteries are removed
- Hazardous materials will be removed if easily identifiable and locatable
- Refrigerant is removed from the Air Conditioning system
- Air bags and seat belt pre-tensioners are removed
The tyres and batteries are collected by contractors for recycling; all other products removed from the ELV are taken away to be processed in line with the Environmental Agency directives.
