Depollution Process

The depollution process requires all fluids, tyres and batteries as well as Other Hazardous materials such as: mercury switches, aircon gases ECT.

  • Engine oil and transmission fluid are drained
  • Windscreen washer fluid and engine coolant are drained
  • Petrol and diesel are drained from the fuel tank
  • Wheels are removed and separated from the tyres
  • Lead acid batteries are removed
  • Hazardous materials will be removed if easily identifiable and locatable
  • Refrigerant is removed from the Air Conditioning system
  • Air bags and seat belt pre-tensioners are removed

The tyres and batteries are collected by contractors for recycling; all other products removed from the ELV are taken away to be processed in line with the Environmental Agency directives.
